Had a scam call? Text 0420 137 123
Did someone ring claiming to be from Microsoft, Telstra, NBN, your bank or “tech support”, and get you to install something or let them onto your computer? You’re not alone, and it’s not your fault. These scammers are very convincing. We clean up after these calls for people around Goulburn regularly.
Do this now
- Hang up, and don’t let them back in. Real companies don’t ring out of the blue to say your computer has a virus.
- Turn the computer off, or unplug the internet. This cuts off their access.
- Call your bank on the number on the back of your card if you gave out card or banking details, or if they asked you to log in to your banking.
- Text us on 0420 137 123 (or call 0472 540 670) and tell us what happened.
What we’ll do
Remove the remote-access program they installed (such as AnyDesk or TeamViewer), plus anything else they left behind.
Scan for and remove malware, and check that nothing has been set to start up or reconnect later.
Help you change your email and important passwords, and turn on two-factor sign-in (2FA).
Explain in plain English what they could and couldn’t see.
